Community Medical (CM) was a primary care and specialty care provider, dedicated to in-home care delivery throughout eight counties in West Central Florida. In addition to in-home visits, a team of 14 nurse practitioners also delivered care to patients in assisted living facilities in the same region. The practice’s past growth was from word-of-mouth referrals and community networking. CM had virtually no digital/online presence and no branded collateral/printed materials to explain its services and programs.
Owner and ARNP, Roberta Rexroth, was at a crossroads in determining next steps for growing her business, both in the short-term and long-term. Would she expand the practice, adding staff and resources, and continue in her current role as an owner/operator? Or would she build her business and increase its value with the intent to sell it in the coming 12 to 18 months?
AK Consultants and Healthcare supported CM on several fronts:
- financial analysis including market valuation and growth projections
- overhaul of the CM website and establishment of on-line presence
- in-the-field sales representatives to increase patient referrals to CM
- rebranded graphics and development of printed materials
Through an integrated approach, AK Consultants and Healthcare grew CM. The financial analysis presented Rexroth with viable options. She ultimately decided to sell her business, requesting that AK help identify qualified buyers and guide all negotiations.
Seven months after engaging with AK, CM was sold at its highest valuation to a national provider of primary mobile medical care. The sale offered Rexroth the opportunity to continue in her role as a provider under the new owner and transition into retirement.
