Introducing Miriam Tyson!

Miriam Tyson has 35 years of healthcare experience, including 30 years with HCA.  She started her Healthcare career in the San Francisco Bay area, and was involved in Provider Network Development for two large Managed Care Organizations. She then relocated to the Tampa Bay area and joined HCA through South Bay and Brandon Regional Hospitals where she was responsible for Physician Recruitment and Business Development. 

In 2008, she accepted the role of VP of Physician Recruitment for 16 hospitals in the WFD, and managed the placement of over 1,000+ physicians in the network through Recruitment and Employment Arrangements to satisfy the community need. 

She developed networks for three Level 11 Trauma Networks, Recruited GME Program Directors for 15 New Programs, and Core Faculty to support the growing programs. She also recruited Physicians to expand the Cardiovascular Service Line, Transplant Program, Behavioral Health, Hospitalists and Intensivists Programs throughout the Division. 

Miriam also worked with a team to develop the Physician Succession/Risk Analysis Document for the HCA Facilities for Medical Staff Succession Planning. She implemented the GME Retention and Educational Program on the “Business Side of Medicine” for HCA Residents and Fellows, and developed the first GME Liaison position in the National Group, dedicated to retaining  Residents and Fellows in the Community.  She initiated a renewed relationship with the USF Residents and Fellows, and conducted several educational presentations for targeted specialties at USF. She also presented to several Physician Residency training Programs through the US. 

Miriam received her B.Sc. from San Francisco State University, and her Masters Degree in Health Care Administration from Phoenix University.  She is also a member of the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters and the MGMA.

Shortly after retiring from HCA in 2020, she launched her Health Care Consulting Company, and continues to work with several physicians and Healthcare Leaders in the greater Tampa Bay to continue her mission of recruiting quality physicians to treat the residents of Tampa and surrounding communities.
